Temporary Mass Start Change for 1st September

On the 1st September 2024 (Sunday), the weekly Filipino Mass at St Benedict's Church Newton will start 1 hour later at 12:30pm temporarily. This is to give way to the Parish's special event for First Communion and Confirmation Mass that will take place during the 9:30am Mass.

The normal Sunday weekly start time at 11:30am will resume the following Sunday, 8th September 2024.


Triple Celebration on 8th September

On Sunday, 8th September, we will be celebrating the anniversary of our Chaplaincy, Migrants Day, and commemorating San Lorenzo Ruiz, Patron Saint of all Filipino Migrants and our Chaplaincy.

All New Migrants that have arrived between January 2024 to August 2024, and frequently attending Filipino Mass at St Benedict's Church, please register either in-person to either Tita Kookie or Tita Lina, or alternatively email info@acfc-catholic.org.nz with the full names and arrival dates all individuals you would like to register.


Do you have a special devotion to our Blessed Mother?

The ACFC Liturgy Committee is looking for Individuals or Families who are willing to lead the rosary before our Filipino Mass starts. The rosary usually starts at 10:55am, so individuals or Families who would like to lead it must be ready and on time to lead the people into prayer.

Reminders for all groups using the Crypt or any Meeting Rooms

All groups who have bookings in any of the meeting rooms or crypt are reminded below:

  • If you have any events cancelled, please let the St Benedict's Parish (office@stbenedictsauckland.org.nz) office know as soon as possible, so that other groups can use the spaced that you have booked.

  • No eating inside the meeting rooms, eating is only allowed inside the main gathering area or the cyrpt.

  • All rubbish must be taken home and do not use the bins in the Church grounds as these are for the tenants use only.

REMINDER - NO Livestreaming of Masses

We would like to remind all about the livestreaming of Sunday Masses and other liturgical celebrations are not allowed. if livestreaming of masses are to be done, this will need to have a formal notice to the public and approval. Car Blessings after the Mass

Car blessings after the mass will only be done on 1st and 2nd Sundays of each month. If you want to have your car blessed, please approach Jonathan Arcular (02102791249) for further assistance.


Parking Reminders

All who are attending Masses and other events at St Benedict's church are required to be attentive and aware where you park your vehicle. For more detailed information, please follow the link below for more information.


Note that free parking in Wilsons Carpark outside of the Free Period of Saturdays 12pm to Sundays, you will be required to pay or risk being penalised. If you are gong to attend events and Masses on Weeknights of Monday to Friday, please check with the organisers if they have oragnised Wilsons Carpark as free to park.


Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation

If you wish for your child to be baptised, please email the St Benedict's Office (office@stbenedictsauckland.org.nz) for more information. First Communion and Confirmation - ACFC Candidate's Important Information:

The First Communion and Confirmation Mass for this year's candidates will take place on the 22nd September at 3pm.

The Reconciliation Rite for this year's candidates will be on the 31st August at 2:30pm at St Benedict's Parish.

Volunteers for Social Media and Technology Team

Do you have background skills in supporting Technology (such as Audio and Visual, Photography, Videography) and Social Media? Or you have a backgound in Public Relations and Communications, and need more experience? You can volunteer in the Chaplaincy's Social Media and Technology Team! Please note, Social Media and Technology Team Members are required to attend Safeguarding seminars, which are posted below this monthly update.


Safeguarding Seminars

It is very important for all volunteers who are either directly or indirectly involved with interacting with people. Especially for individuals (from ages 18 and above) who may interact with Children and Vulnerable Adults as part of their ministry role, to take part of any of the Safeguarding Seminars and to be police vetted. Please note that these are organised by the Catholic Diocese of Auckland. The Once you have this completed, you will be permitted to go on with your ministry activities for three (3) years.

Roles that are required to go through this process as follows below:

  • Pastoral Council Members.

  • Individuals with Coordinator Roles.

  • Extraordinary Ministers of Communion.

  • Senior Altar Server Leaders (who are above 18 years old).

  • Individuals who are part of the Children's Liturgy.

  • Any individuals who are part of any of the Service Committees (Hospitality, Ushers, First Aiders, Migrant Outreach).

  • Technology Team (Social Media).

If you are not part of any of the required groups, we still encourage you to attend one of these seminars. More people trained, more people will be aware, and to protect vulnerable individuals physically, mentally, and also virtually.

The Diocesan Faith Formation Team are offering refresher education sessions across the regions of the diocese for the ministries of 1st Sacraments for Children and Baptism preparation. This is open to all educators and volunteers involved in these ministries. Sessions will be occurring through July, August and early September.

Vacancy: Digital Content Creator, Catholic Enquiry Centre Are you a social media superstar?  The Catholic Enquiry Centre is seeking applications for the role of digital content creator. This role requires an excellent knowledge of social media platforms, outstanding design skills, and the ability to write engaging content quickly and accurately. This is a part-time (15 hours negotiable), fixed-term position (6 months) as we develop engagement across a range of social media platforms. Want to learn what is Ecumenism or Inter-religious togetherness? Especially what is the Catholic Church teaching on the ways and means to which we can respond to Christ's calling towards Christian unity? Ever wanted to know something about the Holy Land? Let us be ecumenical (unite in our various Christian faith) by joining in with our friends of the Armenian Church to an interesting online ZOOM lecture about the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem | Wednesday 28 August 2024 at 9:00pm. Te Kupenga Catholic Theological College is holding Lecture 6 in the series, A Taste of Theology. Rev Dr Merv Duffy will talk about “Christian identity, life and mission in Lumen Gentium, the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church. This will be on Tuesday, 03 September 2024 from 5:30-6:30pm on Zoom. Managing your Rubbish after the use of any gathering spaces (Meeting Rooms and Crypt)

All Hall hirers and users are responsible for bringing home their rubbish with them. All rubbish MUST be removed from the site at the end of their event. Please do not use the rubbish and recycling bins within the Church grounds as this is only for the residents who are living on the property.

The church crypt, parking, and adjacent premises MUST be left clean, and in good and tidy order. Additional charges may be incurred if rubbish is NOT removed off-site. Thank you.


Below are the familiar locations of the rubbish bins that you are not allowed to use, this includes putting rubbish bags in front of these bins.
